I'm supposed to put together a Christmas Carol for the Sounds Familyre blog for the month of December and I'm not sure which one to do yet. I need to do something that doesn't have a super crazy range because my voice just doesn't stretch that far. Did you ever notice that Christmas Carols are actually kind of hard to sing? Maybe it's just because my vocal range is lower, but I always feel like I have to sing so high it isn't even enjoyable.
I'm definitely going to play my ukulele and maybe have the girls do some sweet back-up vocals. I'll see if I can get Jon to do something....I don't know. Play the bass or do some sort of drum something.

My husband is pretty amazing with music and technology. I think that's kind of unusual with musicians. Or with computer programmers. Usually they are pretty one-sided. He wrote a program to play a drum machine. It is pretty intricate; I can't even pretend I know how it works. He even made a kick drum for my brother Daniel when he plays in the Nine Fruits Tree. Underneath the tree costume, Daniel stomps his feet on this contraption that is plugged in and makes a nice kick-drum noise--necessary for one who does not have a drummer.
(That's Sufjan backing him up in this picture.)
When I first met my husband Jon we were on tour together playing music in bars across the United States. He played the bass for Soul Junk. His older brother Glen is the visionary behind Soul Junk. All this to say, I knew him as a musician first, computer nerd second. He's great at both and he'll be a great help for my song.
What song should I do??? Ahhh!!!!!
